The depths of winter ❄️It's been what seems a lifetime since the sun has graced our cheeks. The winter fog has set in thick across much of the Cromwell basin - although an annual occurance, locals always live in hope.. 'Not this year'.Otis and I spent the late afternoon seeking blue sky - joy over a single ray. Unfortunately, no luck... it is thick! 500 vertical meters, I predict.We were instead met by Narnia - a frozen winter wonderland. The sub-zero temperatures have allowed a substantial hoar frost to develop, coating much of the available surfaces with ice.Central Otago is an environment of extremes - in 6 months time, these hills will be sweltering in the summer heat. This frozen wonderland a distant memory.
